A message received from Transition Exeter:
Here’s a Save the Date for an exciting event, an Assembly of River Beings, exploring how we might speak on behalf and give voice to all the beings who live on and around our River Exe, including how we can help develop rights for out rivers. The event takes place is on 21/22 September (World Rivers Day) at the Custom House Exeter. Fuller details will be available soon. Participants and spectators welcome – watch out for a longer newsletter.
Devon Development Education have arranged an afternoon discussion on what is found along the River Exe, with sound recordings: ‘Our Muddy Inheritance’. Also after its summer break, Exeter Climate Cafe is restarting its regular Wednesday morning events at the Phoenix this week. The Climate Cafe offers a safe confidential space for wide-ranging conversations around climate change, – see below. And we also give details on Exmouth’s Fair Trad Fashion Show!
Don’t forget to let us know about other activities you or your organisations are planning that can help us work together for a sustainable city and a flourishing earth community! We look forward to seeing you at any of those mentioned here! Read on…..

And from the Friends of the River Exe:
Friends of the River Exe (FORE) are gearing up to get ready for this event, and are looking for crew. The Assembly aims to explore how we might speak on behalf and give voice to the wider community of species that make up our river Exe including how we might participate in developing rights for our rivers. It isn’t just salmon, trout and other fish which depend on the river, but also insects, birds, amphibians, crustaceans, otters, beavers, farm animals – and us humans.
FORE are gearing up for this next month and are looking for crew. The event (with Exe Tidelines , Lucy Neal (writer) Lawyers for Nature and Rights of Nature network, hosted by Art Work Exeter in the Customs House, Exeter) aims to explore how we might speak on behalf and give voice to the wider community of species that make up our river Exe including how we might participate in developing rights for our rivers.
We need crew to do one of 5 things; refreshments, stewarding, set up & clear up, clean up King’s Room in advance or bake cakes for Sunday 22nd September.
Please email mary@friendsoftheriverexe.org if this could be you!
