There is a whole afternoon devoted to things on the Sid – as part of the Sci Fest this weekend:

Biodiversity Day and the Sid @ Science Festival: 14th October – The Sid

There are morning talks on other biodiversity issues in the Sid Valley:

(20+) Sid Valley Biodiversity Group | This Saturday 14 October is Biodiversity Day, coordinated by our group as part of Sidmouth Science Festival | Facebook

But the most ‘political’ talk will be on river pollution:

Prof Peter Hammond and Ash Smith from WASP (Windrush Against Sewage Pollution)

This Saturday 14 October we are pleased to welcome as speakers Prof Peter Hammond and Ash Smith from WASP (Windrush Against Sewage Pollution). This is part of Sidmouth Science Festival and will take place at 14:00 at Kennaway House. They will speak about their vital work on a national level using data to hold water companies to account for illegal discharges of untreated sewage.

They will be followed at 15:30 by Ben Gallant from Westcountry Rivers Trust who will speak about river restoration on the Camel in Cornwall and how this may be appropriate for the river Sid.

No booking is required and the talks are free though donations to the Science Festival will be encouraged. Further information – www.sidmouthsciencefestival.org
