The River Sid: a look back over 2025

A lot has happened on the River Sid over the last year.

Here’s a look back in the press on the local news and themes of 2025 and before – from balsam bashing to dredging, from fishing to fish ladders (or the continuing lack of them), and from the River Sid Catchment Group to the Sid Valley Biodiversity Group. So, lots going on – most of it positive and forward looking.

There is a more dismal catalogue in the consideration of what’s been in the press about South West Water over the last year – and indeed, looking back at this archive on the Sid River website, there is so little that’s encouraging to report – although SWW’s own press releases have not been included…

Alongside the Sid river

These pages act as an archive of what the press and local groups are reporting. But for a look at the River on a regular basis, there are of course the pieces in the Herald from the Sid Valley Biodiversity Group and the postings on the social media pages of both the SVBG and the River Sid Catchment Group.

And for a weekly look at what’s going on along the Sid, there are the Tales from the Sid on the Sid River website – not only from 2025, but from April 2022. Have a look back – and you should find something of interest!
