“The Sid is one of the most beautiful rivers”

It has been said that the Sid is one of the most beautiful rivers

there is – and there is indeed a lot of beautiful imagery available online that displays its charms, including on this website, with a wealth of photography along the Sid.

But there are plenty of other places to go for more such images, including the SVBG’s page on the River Sid Catchment Group and especially the social media pages of the Sid Valley Biodiversity Group itself, where lots of fabulous photos are regularly posted of what’s happening along the River Sid.

For example, Ed Dolphin last week posted several snaps of a lovely trip up the Roncombe, a tributary of the Sid – including a lovely little video of damselflies flitting over the stream:

Took a walk down an old lane down to the river in Roncombe, around an old wet pasture, then a very slow walk back up the lane. Various snails and insects, and 94 species of plant.

There are many charming places dotted along the River Sid – including Sidbury Mill, which will be opening its gardens and grounds on 20th June, as part of the National Garden Scheme’s offering of visits. Here we have a beautiful view of the Mill’s mature woodland through which the River Sid flow:

And there will be more forthcoming about Sidbury Mill in Sidbury
