Managing flooding along the River Sid

There are now regular flood warnings for the Sid Valley – with the latest from last week:

‘Flooding is possible’ on Rivers Otter and Sid today | Sidmouth Herald

And the EA is saying we need to be ‘vigilant’:

As the piece points out, the River Sid is not an untamed beast by any means – with flood defences being pretty good and well maintained.

For example: the flood gates at the ford on Mill Street are currently being updated:
