Last autumn, the SId Valley Biodiversity Group continued with its programme of monitoring the quality of the River’s waters:
Water monitoring along the Sid: September pictures – The Sid
At the centre of this latest work was its cooperation with the Freshwater Biological Association and The Riverfly Partnership, to monitor the populations of 8 groups of invertebrates at various points in the river system each month.
Here’s a little more on that Partnership:
The Riverfly Partnership is a dynamic network of organisations, representing anglers, conservationists, entomologists, scientists, water course managers and relevant authorities, working together to: protect the water quality of our rivers; further the understanding of riverfly populations; and actively conserve riverfly habitats.
And here’s more on the SVBG’s project on the River – and do get in touch if you’d like to help out this year:
All this is part of the larger Westcountry Rivers Trust Citizen Science Investigations monitoring team in the Sid Valley – part of the SVBG:
It should be even more active in 2024!
