Back in March, an important project was launched:
The new River Sid Catchment Group established – The Sid
During the Biodiversity Festival next month, the Group will be showcasing what it’s been doing and engaging with the wider public:
River Sid Catchment Plan Public Consultation – Sid Valley Biodiversity Group
And as part of that, it has put together a survey:
The River Sid Catchment- Community Questionnaire:
We hope the data from this will give us a good understanding how how the human residents of the valley view this dynamic stretch of water, whether farming close to it (or it’s tributaries), living on it’s banks or simply walking alongside- we value ALL views, memories and opinions which will help us build a plan to help protect and conserve it. More details on this at the top of the survey.

With more in the intro to the questionnaire:
The River Sid Catchment Group are volunteers with a vision to protect and conserve the River Sid and surrounding landscapes.
We currently coordinate citizen science initiatives such as riverfly monitoring and water quality testing. We want to understand what the River Sid and surrounding areas mean to the people who live, work, farm or own land in the Sid Valley. This will help inform a ‘catchment plan’- designed to conserve and restore the river and surrounding land to make it a better place for all. The plan could include projects such as: fish ladders to promote fish migration and habitat restoration, natural flood management and public engagement.
